The Technology Availability Plan is prepared during the Transition Handover-In phase. However, it should be reviewed
throughout the life of the engagement for any changes that may have occurred, due to modifications to the service, or
other improvement suggestions. This could include additions or changes to the services, service components,
configuration items or Vital Business Functions. This plan is primarily driven by the needs of Client business
requirements. The modifications in the Technology Availability Plan should also be agreed upon by relevant stakeholders
as mentioned in the Service Governance Plan. Technology Availability Plan must contain current and future availability
definitions for each service in scope. The Availability Manager must also capture any new or changed availability
requirements and ensure that the plan is updated to reflect these changes. Technology Availability Plan must also be
updated for the improvements identified based on availability performance and trend analysis. Updates to the plan could
also be triggered from changes in service targets (e.g. SLA, OLA, etc.) and risk analysis.
Initially when the Technology Availability Plan is developed, its more aligned to establishment of Technology
Availability Management. But as the engagement progresses, the plan should evolve to cover the following:
-
Activities to address shortfalls in technology availability for existing IT services
-
Details of changing technology requirements for existing IT services
-
Details of the technology availability requirements for forthcoming IT services.
